It’s funny to feel self-conscious, when doing things correctly. Like, pronouncing Björk’s name. (As correctly as possible, anyway, without knowing Icelandic.) People may not even understand what I’m saying, unless I say it “wrong.”
(She introduces herself at the beginning of this video.)
eta: I just noticed the fellow in the background… So content, just to be in Ariel’s shadow. Unconcerned, that, later, someone may look at this photo, and wonder what is on his hat, and never find out, and, thusly, follow the directional lines back down to Ariel’s leg(ging)s, and keep the guy in the shadows, for all of history.
For that “facial features” assignment, I’m drawing Ariel’s nose. And hair, the teacher said I could draw his hair. She said to draw hair similar to our own… I thought I was going to draw, like, Vanessa Hudgens’ hair or something. Whatever came up when I googled “long, wavy hair.” But, I showed her this pic for the nose, and she said I could draw his hair.
I’m also taking an intro to design class… Today, we got the parameters for our final project. We are supposed to illustrate some text from a song, book, or article, in three frames. I immediately thought of ”L’estat (acc. to the widow’s maid).” It already has such an illustrative quality. But, I could make that too complicated for myself. Some other ideas I’m throwing around are: “Interesting Results,” “Flying Circles,” “Helen,” “Farewell American Primitive,” almost anything off of The Doldrums, … Actually, any of Ariel’s songs will be amazing to try to illustrate. I’m going to have a hard time narrowing it down.
